The accommodation is renowned for its nine incomparably styled superior suites with air-conditioning, heated towel rails, free standing baths and a choice of fireplaces.



All suites are uniquely decorated in the Indian Colonial style, which characterised the sugar industry of KwaZulu-Natal in the late 1800`s and equipped telephone, TV with M-net and satellite channels and a mini bar.

Estate Facilities & Pursuits: We are fully serviced, our award-winning restaurant serves sumptuous breakfasts, lunches and dinners either overlooking the magnificent gardens or in the candle lit dining hall. Richard Carstens is one of a handful of 5 star rated chefs in South Africa, he and his team are renowned for their" deconstruction" cuisine where hours (and even weeks) of preparation precede your gourmet experience, where the emphasis is on flavours and textures (our wine list enjoys platinum status) room service available 16 hours a day.

Personalised estate tours cover the history of early KZN, the development of one of the province`s most famous properties and its family`s association with the Prime Ministers of South Africa and the British Royal Family. Deep sea, rock and surf fly fishing, tennis, and swimming pool.


Historic gardens and pre arranged garden seminars. Walks on the extensive Umdoni Park Estate and Golf Course: several rare wild animal and bird species inhabit the estate, whilst the Chequers of S.A, Botha House granted by Sir Frank Reynolds to the nation for the use of its Prime Ministers, rests at its eastern edge overlooking the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Horse riding, whale watching (the largest variety in Southern Africa), excellent fishing and bathing.
